In 2002 Paul Graham's journey with New Zealand Greenstone begun. He trained for three years under Master Carver Ewan Parker and has been creating his own personal style ever since.
The passion Paul has for pounamu shows in every piece he carves. Paul's work is sold throughout New Zealand in many leading galleries and gift stores, and he really enjoys exhibitions also.
He has also just recently become a registerd New Zealand with The South Island Tribe Ngai Tahu. What this means is that the stone that Paul purchases can be authenticated as New Zealand Jade and is not imported jade, he is now one of the few who are licenced to work with this treasured stone of Aotearoa.
Custom made designs are a particular interest to Paul as he enjoys working with people to personalise taonga (treasured gift) for special occassions. Come and experience being involved in the creation of a taonga, by choosing the raw stone and developing the idea's with Paul. Getting to see the final carving can be quite a journey.
Some of his more recent art pieces have been described as having a celtic or indonesian style, but regardless of how they're talked about Paul's carvings all have an amazing flow aspect to them.
He'll look at each block of pounamu before even thinking about the design to try and work with the stone to achieve the best use possible to highlight the beauty of each peice.
