Ngai Tuhoe
I became a specialist pounamu carver in 2003.
My work is based on traditional art forms and extends into contemporary domains in what I find satisfies contemporary sculpture and adornment.
I have been influenced by the natural surroundings of the Urewera Ranges from a young age and I incorporate aspects of nature and free-form in all my work, being careful also to remain true to the spiritual side of my culture and art forms.
